Handcrafted Porcelain Espresso Cup with Tactile Relief
This espresso cup is individually handcrafted in our Florence studio. The surface is first hand-painted with black porcelain slip, then patterned by hand using shellac. A layer of porcelain is carefully washed away, revealing a refined raised relief. This meticulous process ensures that every cup is truly one of a kind.

| Technique | Hand formed by slip casting. The relief is obtained by using the shellac technique; putting a shellac design by hand on the raw porcelain and taking of a layer of porcelain with a wet sponge. That is why each cup has a different design. The cup is glazed on the inside and unglazed on the outside. Fired in a electric kiln for the first time up to 950 degrees Celcius (bisquit) and for the second time un to 1260 degrees Celcius (glazing). High firing makes the porcelain strong and robust |
