Description
This handmade porcelain bowl is from our (NON)-TRANSPARENCY collection and is an ideal bowl for muesli, soup or olives. The bowl is and look light as an eggshell but is very strong. Each bowl is unique. The bowl is glazed on the inside and the outside has a soft satin matt surface and is unglazed. This bowl feels smooth in your hands and is easy to clean in the dishwasher. The bowl comes carefully wrapped as a gift.
The extra translucency is obtained by using the 14th century ‘rice-grain’ technique. You can actually see true the glazed ‘holes’.
JHA PORCELAIN uses the highest quality porcelain clay known for its strength, hardness, whiteness and translucency. Any tiny imperfection and variation are signs of the uniqueness of the art object.

| Technique | hand made by slip casting, relief and extra transparency obtained by using a method based on the Chinese ‘rice-grain’ technique from the 14th century. The bowl is hand made to be transparent, with holes that are then closed invisibly by the artist using transparent glaze on the inside only. Fired in an electric kiln for the first time up to 980 degrees Celcius (bisquit) and for the second time at high temperature up to 1260 degrees Celcius (glazing). High firing makes the porcelain strong and robust. |
