Description
2 handmade porcelain mugs ‘(non)-transparency
These handmade porcelain mugs are from our ‘(NON)-TRANSPARENCY’ collection. Each cup is unique. The cups are glazed on the inside. The outside has a satin matt surface and is unglazed. The extra translucency is obtained by using the ‘rice-grain’ technique. You can actually see your coffee or tea true the glazed ‘holes’.
These mugs feel smooth in your hands and are easily to clean. The mugs come carefully wrapped as a gift.
Dimensions: approx 10 cm high and approx 9 cm diameter
Material: Mont blanc porcelain.
Technique: hand formed by slip casting, relief and extra transparency obtained by using a method based on the Chinese ‘rice-grain’ technique from the 14th century. The mugs are hand made to be transparent, with holes that are then closed invisibly by the artist using transparent glaze on the inside only. Fired in a electric kiln for the first time up to 950 degrees Celcius (bisquit) and for the second time up to 1260 degrees Celcius (glazing). High firing makes the porcelain strong and robust.
Specifications: this product is dishwasher/microwave/oven safe. Prevent thermal shock, like from the fridge in to the oven.
JHA PORCELAIN uses the highest quality porcelain clay known for its strength, hardness, whiteness and translucency. Any tiny imperfection and variation are signs of the uniqueness of the art object.
