This handmade porcelain espresso cup is from our NON-TRANSPARENCY collection.

Each cup is unique. The cup is glazed on the inside. The outside has a satin matt surface and is unglazed. This espresso cup feels smooth in your hands and is easy to clean. The cup comes carefully wrapped as a gift.

The extra translucency is obtained by using the 14th century ‘rice-grain’ technique. You can actually see your coffee or tea true the glazed ‘holes’.

Technique

hand made by slip casting, relief and extra transparency obtained by using a method based on the Chinese ‘rice-grain’ technique from the 14th century. The cup is hand made to be transparent, with holes that are then closed invisibly by the artist using transparent glaze on the inside only. Fired in an electric kiln for the first time up to 980 degrees Celcius (bisquit) and for the second time at high temperature up to 1260 degrees Celcius (glazing). High firing makes the porcelain strong and robust.
Care

This product is dishwasher/microwave/oven safe. Prevent thermal shock, like from the fridge in to the oven.
